“I am blown away that iN2L has activities in all modalities and that so many of the activities are differentiated easy to more difficult.
“My new career was already meaningful and creative, but iN2L’s activities have surely ramped up the fun factor! We are a 60 bed facility for retired nuns. I work primarily in the Memory Care unit. This morning I arrived for my shift at 10:00 am to see a 92 year old Sister dancing with a nurse to an Elvis karaoke song as the other Sisters clapped the beat with huge smiles on their faces. Tears of joy misted my eyes as my jaw dropped in awe.
“Before iN2L I would have arrived to see the Sisters sitting in front of a long video awaiting my arrival. Now, with my second language nurse assistants having sat in on the training, they are confidently initiating iN2L engagement independent of me. This is an unexpected delight and a lasting improvement to my Sisters lives.”

There’s a lot of good work being done around Alzheimer’s and dementia and iN2L is a great tool to help.
Our Family Caregiver Program recently started a Memory Café called “In the Moment Memory Café,” where once a month people living with Alzheimer’s and their caregiver get together to enjoy various activities they can do together. As part of the Memory Café we have incorporated one of our iN2L Systems in some of the programming. We typically use many of the music programs but also have used some other activities such as Google Earth, Movie Memories and some of the YouTube videos from the Health and Wellness icon.

All of the staff is using the system and enjoying it thoroughly. Some of the staff has created their own profile with content they enjoy doing with our friends. We have one gentleman who absolutely loves sitting in front of the system and playing the aircraft trivia for veterans. He gets every answer right! We split into teams and play The Family Feud and The Price is Right. We have been singing Christmas Carols, karaoke, daily devotions, reminiscing and traveling the world.
I wanted to personally thank you for this system. iN2L is engaging, entertaining, teaching and interacting with our best friends. I cannot wait to have families send personal photos and videos to their loved ones. We are teaching families about the system as they come to visit. Families have made comments regarding Americare being a great company to invest in a system like this for their family member. In less than two weeks time the system has brought a whole new realm of fun for everyone (including family members) in our home. Enriching the lives of our friends is happening even more with this system. I thank you, the staff thanks you and our friends thank you!

Within days of receiving and training staff to use the units one of our Memory Lane staff called Assisted Living Executive Director Lauren Levant and told her that she was working with residents and the iN2L, that her shift was over but that the residents didn’t want her to stop! Of course she received permission to continue. That’s the kind of impact this program is having in its earliest days and weeks—imagine what more we can do with it.

A resident was admitted and released four weeks later. When admitted she was non-verbal. Before she was released she was found to be sitting in front of iN2L singing for hours.
The State surveyors came through and they were super impressed. They had never seen anything like iN2L before, so we gave them a demo complete with Playbook review. We had a perfect score in more than one category thanks to iN2L.

Everything I do is used with the InTouch in some way. I remember when I first got the big box in my office and I put it together. I was hesitant to change and even more I was worried that technology was going to actually hinder their journey. I never once thought that it would have the impact it has had on my elders.
I want to start by saying the videos on how to set up the InTouch was very helpful. It was easy to understand, and very simple. I want to also take time to say I was privileged enough to be invited to the training session in Eugene Oregon in 2015 and I was trained on how to use it. I was blown away by their knowledge they showed, the attention they showed us, and the detail that they made sure we knew about how much you can really do on the InTouch. They were amazing.
I really recommend that everyone go to their training session. I can now show other directors that come train with me, how to use it as well. I want to tell you about some of our wonderful stories we have had come from this machine. I love the way you can make a video of your family members for the elders when they feel lost, lonely, and just need to see their family. This machine can show them family members they would only see once in a great while. The videos have brought comfort to many of our elders. Thank you.
Another thing I wanted to tell you about is I have a jazz club, and because of the InTouch, I was able to pull up YouTube and play Billy Holiday and one of the elders heard her sing “Take All of Me” and started to smile a smile, a mile long, and she closed her eyes, and said “my mother used to sing this in the kitchen when she was cooking” Her joyful expression is something I will never forget and it makes me smile to this day.
Another time I was sitting with an elder, who is easily anxious and is hard to redirect. I pulled up the Jackson Pollock Painting page and I showed her how to use the screen to paint, and her eyes lit up with every stroke she put on the screen. It is something that still calms her down to this day. I thank you for giving us the gift of communicating with our elders with art, instead of words.
Another time I had two elders that were from the same town, and with Google Earth I was able to show them their hometown and turns out they lived not too far from each other. They loved to see their town, and they laughed for a good while thinking about how close they lived to each other, and didn’t even know it.
Thank you for bringing the elders closer together, and bringing them laughter. One of our favorite things to do on the InTouch is family feud! Our staff is always fighting over who gets to play it with them. I actually have an elder who asks me everyday if we are going to play family feud. She will sit in the fireside room 30 minutes early, just so she wont miss it. Thank you for giving them something to look forward to.
I have this elder that is pretty rough on the outside, but I decided to play hymn songs from the InTouch, and I looked across the room and she was crying. I knelt down to her and asked her, “Are you ok? Why are you crying?” She smiled and said “Oh honey, don’t worry they are good tears. I haven’t heard this music is a long time. And It makes my heart so happy.” Thank you for bringing back “happy tears”
Because of the InTouch we are able to see new York, Mexico, Italy, and all the side streets in between. Thank you. I am able to hold a meditation class everyday because you have the new age music on there. I am able to show them movies, TV and positive news, they wouldn’t be able to see anywhere else. Thank you. I am able to show them videos of laughing babies, that still crack me up each time I watch it. I am able to show them a sky diving video, when one of my elders is craving going sky diving. Thank you.
When I call troubleshoot to help me with any problems I have, they are beyond kind, and knowledgeable. They are amazing every time I call! I would also like to say, when tours come in, and potential clients look at out home to see if they want to live here, I tell them about how we stand apart just because of the InTouch. It sells itself and a room to an elder in need, almost every time. I cannot say thank you enough, yes I have said it more than enough in this email, but I feel like this will never actually be sufficient enough to let you know that my life has changed, and so has our elders. So, once again, I thank you.
